Koidzumi (Fl. Symb. Orient-Asiat: 72, 1930) treated a part of P. subhirtella forma oblongifolia Miq. as P. kohigan Koidz. and cited spcimen(s) with flowers.
The specimen, Mohnike s.n. [908. 198-954] (L 0420831), is Rosa paniculigera (Makino ex Koidz.) Momiy.
Some of them were already identified by Schindler (in 1914) and R. van Meeuwen (in 1961) as D. heterocarpum var. heterocarpum.
Ohashi (1973) treated this as a mixture of Desmodium podocarpum DC. (in Ginkgoana 1: 142), D. podocarpum DC. subsp. fallax (Schindl.) Ohashi (p. 149) and D. podocarpum DC. subsp. oxyphyllum (DC.) Ohbashi (p. 150).
