Specimens collected by Carl Julius Textor (1816-?)

Textor was a botanist who was dispatched by Siebold, using his own funds, as a replacement for Pierot. He collected dried specimens throughout Japan and live species on the island of Dejima, but the majority was lost when the ship that was carrying them sank, resulting in substantial losses for Siebold and subsequent quarrels between the two men.

The following 10 Textor specimens were donated to Tokyo University Museum by NHN.
