This project, "le Pli Electronique", is a monument. Monument? Is it necessary? From the first meeting with clients, I was not fully convinced of the necessity to create a huge object. So, I changed my attitude towards this object,i.e., for doing an personal exercise of form in 100 meters size (maybe almost criminal act). Meaning of scale is perhaps what I wanted to verify by my own body.Another point is my personal interest in computer aided design. Normally, CAD is used to simulate something. But, I had strong feeling that computer has much powerful ability to create form. Or simulation is not right way to use computer in architecture. That was what I was trying and keep doing now.
"Virtual Clay" is the idea used in this project. This concept is not already new and used in many cases. (Development in the field of computer is amazingly rapid.) Virtual clay is wonderful tool to create 3-D object in 3-D way. And at the same time, it created new difficulities in cognition of form. It is funny to feel difficulity to understand form when I look at a 3-D object in 3-D way. But, that's enjoyable!
