This new Bulletin is planned to contain larger original papers prepared by the staff members who are associated with the University Museum of the University of Tokyo. Future numbers will be issued at irregular intervals about once in a year.

The University Museum established in 1966 is intended for storing important collections of natural and cultural sciences which had before been scattered throughout many departments of our University. A large number of the type specimens in biological and earth sciences described by the staffs of our University are now preserved in the Museum. The material used for the studies included in this bulletin will be as a rule deposited in the Museum. Also the Museum is expected to be a center in our University for cooperative researches in scientific fields concerned.
