Note |
The specimen in TI is highly likely a duplicate of holotype in P which was examined by Christ (1896) when this species was described (see Yamamoto 2004). The name “Trichomanes acutum” was originally used by Makino (1892), but it was a nomen nudum due to the lack of diagnosis. Christ (1896) validly published the name based on a specimen received from Makino. On the other hand, Makino (1899) validated his nomen nudum by adding diagnosis. According to the latest Code, Christ’s publication is the oldest valid one for this taxon, and Makino’s publication in 1899 is considered as an isonym. Although cited specimens in the protologue of Christ (1896) and those of Makino (1899) are not identical, Ito (1959) and Iwatsuki (1981) recognized the types of “T. acutum” based on the specimens cited by Makino (1899). Note 2: “Lectotypus” stamped on TI00047879. Note 3: TI00047876 & 00047879 are cited by Makino (1899), but not cited by Christ (1896). |
