Note Although  Nakai  (1914)  cited  one  specimen  [Nippon:  In  pago  Ichinomiyamura  Prov.  Bizen.  3  V  1903  fl  (J.  Nikai  no.  (1083)],  we  could  not  find  the  corresponding  specimen  he  mentioned.  Instead,  we  found  two  relevant  specimens:  one  was  the  same  number  but  different  date  [no.  1083  in  24  May  1903],  and  another  was  the  same  date  but  different  number  [no.  1082  in  3  May  1903].  Apparently  Nakai  (1914)  used  these  specimens  when  he  described,  so  we  treat  these  two  specimens  as  syntypes  of  C.  succedanea  Nakai.
The  lectotype  was  designated  by  Yano  et  al.  (in  J.  Jpn.  Bot.  93:  366,  2018).
