A-project

A-Project is a low-cost studio complex for artists in residence program in a new satelite town. The steel-frame structure consists of two alternating levels set in snake patterns defining five artists studios.

Each unit comprises a skylit two-level atrium space and an outdoor workspace of roughly equal dimension. Utilities are provided on the first level while the upper levels include a balcony overlooking the atrium space and a private terrace. Each studio is about 7.5 by l5 meters.

Shutters between the units can be opened to create a long corridor that alternates between exterior and interior spaces, running the Length of the building. Walls are painted according to orientation creating a visual expression that changes according to the viewerユs movements and perspective, expressing the importance of movement for the development of the new town.
