DESCRIPTION :	Located east of the Tigris near Khorsabad. The lowest levels of this tell reveal a transition between the Halaf and Ubaid periods, followed by a long-lasting Ubaid settlement. One of the best-known features is a temple complex (Gawra XIII), which resembles the Ubaid 'temples' at Eridu and Uruk. Later occupation levels were marked by a large round house and various 'temples'. Later levels belong to the 3d and 2nd millennia BC, terminating in a Mitanni settlement.
