APPENDIX II     RADIOCARBON DATES FROM THE MIDDLE THROUGH THE LATEST JOMON PERIODS IN THE KANTO REGION

No radiocarbon dates have been obtained from the Kamitakatsu Site. But in Japan, especially in the Kanto Region, the Jomon chronology is well established on the bases of a detailed sequence of pottery types. This sequence of pottery types has been checked by means of radiocarbon dating. The radiocarbon dates for the types between Kasori E and Obora (taken from sites in Kanto) are shown in Figure 32 in order to give chronological information for the deposits at the Kamitakatsu Site. (There are no available radiocarbon dates for the Maeura and Ubayama II pottery types. Therefore, the dates for the Chiami pottery type, a type roughly contemporary with the Obora type, are shown.)
